As mentioned in earlier section, Anthos Service Mesh consists of service mesh control plane and the side car proxy component that gets installed on each pods (on the data plane nodes) as part of the service mesh installation.
You have an option to setup service mesh control plane in every Anthos cluster or you can have all the clusters communicate to one central service mesh control plane. Anthos Service Mesh supports federated mesh where every cluster will host both service mesh control and data plane components.
