In this section we with go through the pre-requisite, deployment overview and set up Anthos clusters on Bare metal.
Hardware and Operating Systems requirements
Anthos clusters on bare metal requires a minimum hardware requirement to run on a supported Linux operating system.
The Linux operating system currently supported are CentOS (8.1 and 8.2), RHEL (8.1 and 8.2) and Ubuntu (18.04 and 20.04). In this Chapter, we would be installing Anthos clusters on Bare metal on Ubuntu 20.04. (Please refer to the Anthos on Bare metal documentation for latest support on operating system.)
With respect to hardware requirement’s, we require a minimum of 3 machines to install Anthos clusters on bare metal , but in real-world you would need at least 5 machines for high availability and resiliency. We look at the deployment topology of these machines in the next section.
The minimum hardware configurations required are 4 CPUs, 32 GB RAM and 128 GB storage.
